Hi all,

Regular readers of this blog may know I'm not a big music fan.  Music, to me is something to play in the background while doing something else (usually working, esp. on my computer.  Or driving.).  And the music that I do listen to spreads the gamut of musical genres (which is why I like WYCE so much -- they play everything, and it's a great place for me to find new music).  And, anyway, as anyone who's seen my musical meme writing prompt monthly challenge can see I like a lot of different types of music.
Now, one of my favorite types of music is Irish folk music (everything from Enya or Loreena McKennitt to Irish rock like Hot House Flowers and some U2).  One thing I've noticed is that some of the best "Irish" music these days is coming out of Canada.  Bands like Great Big Sea (Newfoundland) and Figgy Duff (Nova Scotia) are fantastic!  For a more traditinal sound (and New Age-ish lyrics) there's Hamilton Ontario's Loreena McKennit.
But I've just discovered another Canadian Irish band (thanks to WYCE) - Enter the Haggis from Toronto.  I bought "Casualties of Retail" from Amazon, after hearing the wonderful single "Gasoline" on Wyce and the album really, really rocks!!!  It's got that active Irish sound of fiddles and such -- but it also really, really rocks!  I highly recommend the band not only to anyone who like more traditional Irish music (they do a very nice cover of "She Moved Through the Fair" for example) to folks who like Irish rock bands like U2.
Quite simply, "Casualties of Retail" is probably the best CD I've purchased this year (not that I buy a lot of music), but highly, highly recommended.  Is you want to try a taste of this marvelous band, download "Gasoline", "Haven", or "Down with the Ship".
"Haven" by the bye I want to make into a music vid for *Rescue Me* -- it suits Denis Leary's character of Tommy Gavin perfectly!!!
