Music Meme
Got this from [Unknown site tag]greencudagal.
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Live Journal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
1. “So Close” – from Enchanted
2. “Party for Two” – Shania Twain
3. “Like the Rain” – Clint Black
4. “Love is a Beautiful Thing” – Phil Vassar
5. “Hell Yeah” – Montgomery Gentry
6. “Wait for You” – Elliott Yamin
7. “Clumsy” – Fergie
I tag anyone who wants to do it :)

MY RESPONSE:
I'm actually not that "into" music. I'm much more interested in film and TV (both on the production/technical side and as entertainment). To me, music is something to have in the background, while driving, working, writing, etc. Because of this I couldn't really think of favorite specific songs at the moment. But I *can* think of favorite playlists - so that's what I'm going to list.
Playlist # 1 -- SF Soundtracks -- This playlist starts with a CD I just got last month for "free". Well, I say free, it came with a British magazine, and the magazine was $15.00 - so I considered it that I was paying $15.00 for the CD and the magazine was free. Anyway, there's 10 various US and UK SF/adventure themes on the CD, including themes from the *orginal* BattleStar Galactica, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, The Prisoner, The Avengers, Thunderbirds, Cap't Scarlet, Joe 90, (the TV series) Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and more. Then to that CD I added the two Babylon 5 CDs that I own, a couple of Doctor Who (original) soundtracks (I still need to add more, not to mention tracking down the new series soundtracks), and a few SF-themes Weird Al Yankovic songs, plus Orbital's version of the DW theme. The entire SF Soundtrack Playlist is instrumental, which makes for great listening at work.
Playlist #2 -- Filk -- Filk is the folk music of fandom. Songs are usually about: Science Fiction (written), Fantasy (written), the Space program, computers, or parodies of other songs (filk, folk, or whatever). Being a folk music fan anyway, I love filk, as long as the person singing can actually sing. Favorites are Julia Eckler, Heather Alexander, and Tom Smith. (Smith is especially famous for his puns and humor. Eckler and Alexander are more known for tradtional-sounding folk or folk-rock sounding songs).
Playlist #3 -- Active Irish Folk -- One of Three different Irish playlists that I have, this one is mostly nautical-sounding Irish music which is mostly from Canada (from the Maritimes: Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, etc). Singers on this playlist include: Great Big Sea, Stan Rogers, Figgy Duff, Hot House Flowers, and the rest from various complilation discs such as "Women of the World: Celtic", and both "Due South Soundtracks".
(If you're curious, the other Irish Playlists I have are: Traditional Irish Folk, and New Age / Soft Irish Folk.
I know this isn't precisely what G0Shawk wanted, but I hope it's close.
