Hi all,

My mom and I went up north, well, to Montague north of Muskegon, for a lesson in making layered glass jewelry.  It was really fun and I even got to peek in the kiln (oooh, scary) to get an idea of what my pieces will look like.   I can't wait til Friday when I get to pick up my pieces (I made nine) and so can Mom.  We'll also put bails on the pieces so I can use them as pendants.  And I'll probably put them on liquid silver or seed bead necklaces.  Beading is also a hobby of mine, along with reading and writing fanfic of course, and I've probably been making jewelry for like 8 years.

The drive home was pretty nerve-racking because it was snowing, hard.  And I-96 is awful in the snow -- there's a lot of open country and fields so the snow just blows across the road and it's hard to see.  There's also a lot of bridges (over other roads and over rivers) that get icy.  So it was a slow drive home.  And I wasn't even driving - Mom was.

The jewelry lessons were fun, tho.  And, even with the awful drive, it looks like the snow might stick -- it depends on how cold it gets tonight and if it continues to snow or stops.  Overall, the snow was better than yesterday, where we had a bit of snow, which didn't stick at all, then rain, then freezing rain and hail, then rain again.  That wasn't fun.  I'll take snow over rain any day.
