Hi all,

I'm very sorry to have to report that I lost my cat, Cal, yesterday. Cal was short for Caligari, as in, "The Cabinent of Dr. Caligari", but he came with that name when I adopted him. I got him as an 8-year-old cat, with Gabby, whom I still have (she's three years younger). Cal and Gabby were shelter cats, who were adopted by a friend of mine at work when I worked for Emjay. They friend couldn't keep the cats and that's how I got them (otherwise they probably would have gone back to the shelter :-(
Cal was 17. I had just found out about a month ago that he was Diabetic and I had to give him two shots a day of insulan. When I first started with the shots, he seemed to perk up and be a lot more energetic. Then he had a check-up about two weeks ago, and the vet reduced his insulan, which I thought meant he was getting better. But over this past weekend, he just got very sick - he was barely moving around, wasn't eating, and was drinking a lot of water. I brought him into the vet on Monday afternoon and it turned out his kidneys were failing, and as the vet put it, "he's a very sick kitty". I had to have him put down. My parents were with me and then we buried him in the backyard, where we had buried our other pets, including Dad's dog, Grits, who died earlier this month.
Cal was such a good cat - he'd sit on my lap, or right next to me when I watched TV at night. And he was even good about the shots - which I was worried about.
I'm going to miss him so much, he was so sweet.
