olivia_suttonWell, remember my saying I was upset because of an argument I had on-line with my cousin? Said cousin left a nice comment on my Facebook page yesterday. I'm thinking it was an olive branch. And since I never actually apologized, I'm thinking I should definitely e-mail him back and accept the apology for what it was.
But should I explain why I was so furious in the first place? I mean, I know better than to mix politics and the more conservative members of my family (I'm Liberal/Progressive -- most of my family? Not so much). So, should I try to explain, at the risk of ticking him (that is to say, my cousin) off again? Or should I let bygones, be bygones, and just accept the apology (note: he didn't say "I'm sorry" but by agreeing with me about something else, and being civil and nice in his comments for the first time in two weeks - he was offering an olive branch and apology without actually saying so. It's complicated, but I know him. And frankly, I've done the same sort of thing myself. My family's like that -- people don't speak for a decade then suddenly you get a Thanksgiving invitation from someone, y'know?) So do I just take it? Or do I try to explain why I was mad, explain some very personal stuff I went through in college, and hope that helps him understand just why I flew off the handle. Or should I actually apologise for said flying off the handle?
