Merry Christmas, Happy Boxing Day

Hi all,
Happy Holidays to all! I actually had a good Christmas this year (much better than last year which was just one disappointment after another). Starting with last Saturday -- as regular readers of this journal will know, we've had snow since Thanksgiving (late Nov). Until Sat. -- when the temp suddenly shot up to the upper 40s (F), the snow melted, it rained and we had heavy fog. Sunday, however, my county (Kent) was under a winter storm advisory. The Lakeshore area and Southern Michigan were under (a more severe) winter storm warning. We had light snow on Sunday, and of course the standing water from Sat froze over, but it didn't look like we'd get much snow. However, I woke up on Christmas Eve day to about four inches of fresh fluffy snow!
I went to the 7:30pm Christmas Mass with my parents, and it was actually quite nice. After words we (me and my folks) had hot cocoa and a snack, then opened *some* presents -- I got the movie *Stardust* which I really wanted, and Mom enjoyed the scented oil stuff I bought her for her lamberge lamp (Kinda' like a Hurricane lamp, but smaller and it actually cleans the air rather than providing light and scent). Dad liked his CDs too. Christmas Day I went over to my brother and sister-in-law's. Now, my sister-in-law is really really cheap, and she frequently pisses me off at Christmas to be frank about it. (After all, I routinely spend over a $100 on her, my brother and the twins but she doesn't really give me a gift, really. Don't get me wrong, I don't *mind* buying gifts for my niece and nephew, but it would be nice if she gave *me* something nice-- last year I got a bunch of like hand-creams and such which I couldn't even use 'cause they had lanolin in them, which I'm HIGHLY allergic to. It turns my hands and skin bright red.)
But this year I actually did get some nice things from her, my brother and the twins. I got a frosted candle holder with a metalic red liner and a raindeer design (the red foil can be seen under the frosted glass where the raindeer are) with some tealights (tho' the holder is actually kinda' big for tealights, it would hold a voltive or larger candle). I collect candle holders, so that was nice. Then I got a pair of fuzzy-warm polar fleece slippers, and some hand lotion (don't know why she *always* wants to give me hand lotion!).
But my folks gave me two more presents -- *Heroes* Season 1 on DVD, which I was expecting 'cause I'd been hinting about it every chance I got, and a big surprise -- *Doctor Who Series 2* -- which I was **missing**. I'd got Series 3 myself, and I ordered Series 1 from the UK when I came out there, but I was missing Series 2 (simply didn't have the money for it last year). So that was a happy surprise.
And the kids loved their gifts -- not only was my nephew playing with his toy dinosaur, my neice was too -- and she played with the Barbie clothes I got her for her Barbie. (Yep, I played Barbies with my neice. Hey, she's 4! Almost 5.)
We had a big dinner, but by then I wasn't feeling well (horrible migraine headache) so I didn't eat much.
Overall, it was a good day tho'.
Oh-- and I got myself an Ipod! Yep, after spending almost my entire check last week on presents, I got one for myself and I bought an Ipod! It's cool!
Take care all -- and Happy Holidays, even if it's a bit late.
